Introductory word – Rector of the University of Economics in Katowice
Dear Students and Young Researchers,
our Alma Mater is a university where the values of innovation, openness and collaboration guide the creative activities undertaken by the academic community, our students and researchers. Here, everyone can explore and realize their diverse academic passions, following their own path of intellectual development. We hold discussions, carry out innovative research in which we clarify and seek answers to the questions that concern us. We do not close ourselves to the opinions of other researchers from outside our academic center, drawing from collaboration inspiration for our new ideas and activities in the scientific field, while striving not only to discover and expand new knowledge, but also to disseminate it.
The academic journal Academic Review of Business and Economics, prepared with you in mind, provides a platform for sharing knowledge. In it, you can present your research and thus become actively involved in discussions centered around diverse problems in economics and finance, management and quality sciences, business. I hope that the articles included in this first and in the planned subsequent issues of the journal will be inspiring reading and will encourage students and young scientists from our university, as well as from other domestic and foreign academic centers to share the results of their research and will become a contribution to further creative activities and the acquisition of scientific achievements.
Celina M. Olszak, Rector
Editorial
“The beauty of the scientific adventure is that there will never be a shortage of further question marks.”
Rev. Prof. Michael Heller
We place in your hands the first issue of the scientific journal, in which students and young scientists present the results of their research, taking the first steps on the path of their scientific development and advancement. The topics of individual articles are part of the broadly understood economic sciences and interdisciplinary studies. The problems taken up by the authors are not only an expression of the interests of young researchers, but also of the scientific freedom of their research. Among the issues analyzed are current phenomena and processes, as well as topics from the history of economic thought; problems of local as well as global dimensions. The subjects of detailed research, the results of which are presented in the articles included in this issue, include the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic for the activities of enterprises, the pro-ecological and economic aspects of the activities of sports clubs (sports economics), the dynamically developing online marketing, and, finally, global trade rules from the perspective of their relevance to a specific market.
The articles published in the journal are a source not only of scientific knowledge, but also of news from the world of science, and indicate the way in which socio-economic problems are perceived by those standing on the threshold of their careers. This is where passion, commitment, knowledge and scientific integrity come together, which together lead to progress and make up the scientific achievements of young people. The future of societies and economies will depend on their activities. The interesting issues taken up in the research and their results are an incentive to read for both young and experienced scientists, as well as all those interested in these issues.
